STEVE LYSTON | GREED AND THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT IN TOURISM

The level o f greed that exists within the nation, coupled with the absence of Light within the Tourism sector has caused the nation to be suffering, because they continue to make decisions in the interest of Tourism while the locals are feeling the pangs and taking the blame for the spread of the virus. The decisions being made by those is positions of governance and authority in the different administrations over the years have opened up the nation to great suffering for the locals, particularly regarding crime and violence.  When other nations closed their borders in an effort to protect its people, we quickly opened ours with very little attention given to safety protocols and occupancy levels.  They quickly spread the virus while blaming the locals, then proceeded to lockdown the local businesses and imposed unfair measures on the church, even as the allowed different people to stroll in from different places.  While some small sections of the nation benefit from tourism, the majority are not.  Tourism has now become the gateway for the anti-Christ system being imposed upon the nation.

In order for Tourism to work there has to be Light.  Jesus is the Light and we can’t truly prosper or have real success without Him.

Jamaica wants to create a financial hub but it will not successfully come through stocks, bonds and other investment tools. We cannot afford to build tourism on immorality and gambling; that is like building on sand!

Current Negatives

We have opened our borders and have opened the door to certain nations with little to no requirements because of the hunger for a dollar.

Crime and Violence has spiked.

There is now the introduction of the “Vaccine Passport” which now opens up issue of your private health information being made public.

Unreasonable Curfews.  Curfews have now been imposed on locals because of the spike in the virus.

All these things are the results of decisions that were made in the interest of tourism.  I was surprised when the news broke about the nation reopening the cruise shipping industry.  This will bring more debt, death and hardship on the nation.  It is a backward, foolish move that puts all locals at great risk.  Even if every passenger took the vaccine, that would not help.  In fact, cases would multiply because there is no conclusive, scientific evidence that the vaccine would stop the spread.  It does not take much common sense to know that the vaccines being offered are in its preliminary stages, which does not make sense for anyone taking it.

For years the Lord has been warning that Tourism Industry personnel in Jamaica to seek Him before making certain decisions. We were given a great opportunity to reform the way we do tourism by reforming so the locals can benefit.  They need to explore new products, but they have failed and it is costing us more than what we are benefitting as a people.  They are relying on immorality to build the nation which is just the same as building on sand.

Solutions

  • Make the learning of a second language mandatory in secondary level institutions.
  • Use Vale Royal as an historical tourist attraction and pay all future prime ministers a housing allowance.
  • The local attractions such as the pantomime and other theatrical and musical programs, must be promoted through the tourism vein so that they can be enjoyed by our visitors!
  • Engage in Faith-based Tourism
  • Build cottages in our mountains and invest in eco-tourism so that our natural beauty and resources can be preserved while benefiting the tourism industry financially.
  • Promote Jamaica as a place for family when people can come and get married and go back home.
  • Focus on community tourism as well where the locals can benefit.
  • Train our police personnel how to work in the Tourist industry so that security and safety can go to the next level.

Unless we allow the Light to be included in our nation’s Tourism sector then we are going to have some painful paths ahead.

Let that sink in.
