Not everyone is a prophet. However, everyone has the ability to prophesy or speak words that would bring change!
If God created the universe by speaking words, and we are made in His image, then we too have the capacity to speak our very future into being! Every word we speak, good or bad, will bring forth a harvest. We must decide what harvest we want.
First, God wants us to begin speaking positive words to cancel all the negative words we have spoken about ourselves or that others have spoken about us. (Proverbs 16: 23 – 24)
Confessing positive words brings healing, peace, creates light, life and builds our self-esteem. It brings hope and creates a new path for us. It brings victory!

Proverbs 18: 21 lets us know that a person’s life largely reflects the fruit of his tongue. To speak life is to speak God’s perspective on any issue of life. To declare anything negative is declaring death, and re-injects the past into your current situation.
We will be held accountable for every idle word we speak on a daily basis. The negative words we speak will determine whether we are righteous or whether we are condemned.
Many times we see people suffering and it is the result of what they speak about themselves. (Matthew 12: 36 – 37)
The tongue causes defilement, brings strife, war, sickness and curses. The Word of God even tells us that we can tame animals, but the tongue is more difficult to tame and releases poison. Many die, never recovering from this poison.
A negative or untamed tongue is controlled by a python spirit. Many churches, families and organizations break up because of the tongue. God wants us to use our tongues to create miracles and to change our environment as well as to bless our children! In the same way that fear is a spirit, faith is a spirit!
When the spies gave a negative report, based on the giants they saw in the Land of Promise, it nearly destroyed the entire camp. Your negative words can become the trap that destroys you. Jesus shows us that there is power in our tongue. He showed this to us in Mark 11, when He spoke to the fig tree to dry up from the root and it did!
There are many things and cycles against which we need to speak! There are curses that need to dry up from the root and we have the capacity to make it happen. There are contrary winds and storms that tend to come against us, but which we can speak against to stop them from coming in our direction. Within your mouth, you have the power to remove any obstacle coming against you. (Zechariah 4: 6 – 7) We are children of Grace and we have the authority within our mouths to remove or speak against any opposition.
God wants us to find a Scripture of Promise and begin to declare it daily! (Hebrews 11: 3; Genesis 1)
Joel 3: 10 reminds us that the weak should say they are strong; and if words create the environment, we can create a Godly environment for us and our families.
