MUSIC IS so powerful that it can influence and change an environment, an individual, and even unite a nation. It is also a therapeutic tool that can pull in millions!

Many may say that the Jamaican music industry has reached its peak and is going nowhere, but we are about to see a new set of musicians and singers emerge and the re-emergence of the pioneers in the Jamaican music industry – coming with songs of change and victory – that will change the environment and even the focus of the people!

The fact that Jamaica as a nation undergoes so many fights, is as a result of the immense wealth of musical talent that exists, which is one of the greatest strengths this country has. Yet, sadly, there is not even a dedicated music school to train each generation. While many persons may be trained in a course at the only school of the visual arts, there is no music school in a country that produces such natural talent! Yet our musical artistes continue to create waves internationally!

If our nation can produce such musical impact that its musicians can be banned from a nation, then our musicians and singers also have the capacity to create revival and influence change across every sector and many nations. It therefore means that our solutions can be found in the midst of the problems.

If a person sings negative lyrics, “more fire, man fi have dem inna twos and threes” to an irresistible rhythm and beat, then he or she can influence attracted listeners; and then the manifestation of what is uttered takes place. Proverbs 18: 21 says, “death and life are in the power of the tongue …”

If then they begin to sing songs that address the corruption, injustice, and deception, to rhythms and beats that are just as enticing, then change will come and it will challenge the youth positively, and convince them that they can make it. If our musicians and singers begin to produce songs that teach the young about the benefits of believing in God and living right, then think of the changes it can bring to our nation.

Man is a three-part being – body, soul and spirit. Each represents the outer, inner and most inner part of a human being. So, we will need musicians and singers that can inspire each part and bring us into God’s outer and inner courts and to the Holy of Holies, which will cause us to experience health, prosperity, peace and blessings that come from God!

Music And The Economy

When the children of Israel were experiencing drought and famine and began to speak against God and their leader (Moses), it was praise to God that broke the recession and drought for the children of Israel, and it was then that God showed them where to dig and how to get the resources to change their economic situation. (Numbers 21:16-17). This tells us that there are numerous hidden natural supplies that God can show us to take us out of our economic problems, so that we do not have to depend heavily (if at all) on other nations!

Music And Crime

In II Chronicles 20:20 and II Kings 3, it was music that inspired the then security forces to get a plan to win the war on crime. They were able to get resources and supplies, and transfer the wealth for the benefit of the nation.

Music And Health

In I Samuel 16:23, it was music that broke the spirits of fear, hopelessness and depression from Saul when David played. That meant that Saul did not have to call the doctors – no medical bills! Anointed musicians and singers carry the power to heal through music! There are so many leaders at all levels who are suffering from the same stress and depression, and we have the potential to bring healing to them while transferring the wealth to our nation and people!
