Each day we come against many battles. There are battles we fight that would get us weary and discouraged – especially battles that seem too big for us – a Goliath! Each of us has a Goliath that we must conquer and defeat if we are to move forward. When Goliath rises, there is always an opportunity for promotion.

Your Goliath is anything that stands before you and your purpose or promotion. It is always something huge which you cannot destroy through your flesh or natural abilities.

Can you imagine that you are broke going up against a politician who is wealthy and has all the support and the capacity to bribe and buy whomever they choose. That is a Goliath!

A Goliath can be situation you are up against that is beyond your limitations to resolve. Just think of a small army of 300 with very little resources, up against an army of three million with all the resources they want. That big army – that’s a Goliath!

You may have a lawsuit against the elite of the society, and you are unknown who has no connections. You may be in sports and you are up against a mighty team with all the resources and you have very little resources with which to compete. Within your mind, you are going to compete, but you don’t believe that you can win. Think of someone facing bankruptcy or foreclosure, having no one to turn to and having no money or defense to fight. Maybe there is sickness or a serious struggle that could only be resolved. These examples of issues that could be called your Goliath.

When we are facing giants, we are always considered the underdog; but for those who are risk-takers, they know that the underdogs always carry greater value and pay higher dividends. No one will ever believe that the underdog is a serious contender or that they can get victory. Never focus on the size of your Goliath, because that is when the fear factor will show up and tell you that you don’t have a chance so don’t even try. Fear cause you to focus on the natural; faith allows you to focus on the spiritual.
Facing and fighting your fears
Faith in Jesus Christ destroys fear. When facing and fighting your fears or the product of your fears, you must let the Holy Spirit be your guide. Furthermore, our weapons must be prayer, fasting, praise, worship, thanksgiving and giving. We must pray for the enemies’ defeat. We are going to fight and win regardless of the size of the enemies’ resources!

Many times people will cry and ask why they have to have a Goliath at all. But to be honest, without facing a Goliath, there would not be any access or reward/benefit to take you to the next place of growth. There would be no David without a Goliath – he was unknown before there was a Goliath.

Facing our Goliaths bring out the hidden talents and potential in us. Furthermore, we cannot apply human logic to address it; neither can we employ the same methods the enemy uses. Witchcraft is not an option! All we need to do is seek the Lord for tactics, strategies and direction. (Psalm 25) Always remember that God is greater than Dagon; so obedience to God is key for victory when facing your Goliath.

Remember, we cannot defeat what we refuse to confront; because what you refuse to confront will defeat you.

Pray this prayer daily to defeat Goliath according to I Samuel 17: 45 – 47.

Father, in the name Jesus, I come to you right now, to confront and conquer my Goliath in areas of relationships, lawsuits, sickness, injustice, sabotage, bankruptcy, delay, denial, crime, violence fear, witchcraft, plots, traps, sabotage, financial problems, competition, corruption and personal insecurities.

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands. In accordance with I Samuel 17: 45 – 47, I declare “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
